Alessandra Baldoni, Atlas

Atlas is a work of research, of memory, and of time, in which the poetic thought transforms memories into a collection of images. The work stems from Atlas Mnemosyne by Aby Warburg, an atlas of images in which Warburg explores the survival and the permanence of ancient divinities and symbols in modern European culture. According to Alessandra, these images composed by myths, figures, words, and symbols, are still very much alive within Western memory. Her search is therefore born from the investigation of cultural resonances between the Renaissance period, the Ancient age and our Contemporary time.
